PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

Dated: July 27, 2010  The National Football League has hired Robert Gulliver as its first executive vice president of human resources, the Associated Press reports. Gulliver previously served as head of human resources for a Wells Fargo division in Charlotte, N.C.

The NFL announced Gulliver’s addition along with the hiring of Paul Hicks, who replaces Joe Browne as the league’s vice president of communications and government affairs. Hicks was previously a regional chief executive officer of the Americas for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.

Browne is now a senior adviser to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

In addition to becoming the league’s first executive vice president of human resources, Gulliver will also serve as the NFL’s chief diversity officer.

NAACP SUPPORTS CONGRESS' DECISION TO CLOSE THE GAP IN COCAINE SENTENCING

Below is an excerpt from an email sent by Ben Jealous, President and CEO of the NAACP, dated August 3, 2010.

"Until today (Aug-03-2010), there was a sentencing disparity of 100:1 between crack cocaine and powder cocaine. But during negotiations it became clear that Congress was in agreement: This disparity has had a hugely unfair and racially discriminatory impact on minority Americans.

As a result, the bill lessening the disparity to 18:1 passed by unanimous consent.

The NAACP supports this bill as an important first step in completely eradicating these types of legislative injustices. However, we will continue to push for complete elimination of the disparities between crack cocaine and powder cocaine sentencing."

India of K-Town, Dan Perkins calls it a Must See Film

"You will be touched by the power of this documentary ... to see how the generosity of an extraordinarily compassionate entrepreneur transforms the life of a young woman growing up in one of Chicago's toughest neighborhoods.  I highly recommend INDIA OF K-TOWN, an independent video by Chicago's own Emmy Award winning director Beverly Price."
